![]() ![]() If your current Mac is stuck at macOS Catalina, then you could create a secondary user account on a family member's or friend's Mac running at least macOS 11 Big Sur. If your current Mac is compatible with macOS Big Sur, then you could install macOS Big Sur on an external SSD connected to your Mac ( see this article from MacWorld) If you've never downloaded the Mac version of Pages with your Apple ID, then you have two main options: You'll see a message telling you that the latest version is incompatible so it will download and install a previous yet compatible version. Locate Pages and initiate the download from there. This will give you access to the "Purchased" pane. So Windows is going to be the best option for those older 32 bit apps.Provided that you already downloaded Pages from the Mac App Store in the past, here's how to do it: Since a lot of the older apps are no longer updated, that will be an issue. I also have an older Lenovo Yoga 2 11 laptop running Windows 10 I use on occasion, but updates are still an issue.Įventually Apple will stop allowing 32 bit apps on Mac OS X. ![]() If you can run your apps without having an internet connection, then that works better as the updates cannot be loaded, but it is a PITA to deal with them. The only drawback is those darn forced Windows updates that pop up continuously no matter how you try to prevent them. Since I run a lot of photography post processing apps found only on Windows, and I have a lot of ham radios and scanners that require Windows apps to program, it is easier just to use Bootcamp and boot up into Windows 10 and not have to worry about it. Every time Apple updates their Mojave software there is a possibility that the Wine build of the app will stop working or will develop issues. I have tried using Wine with WineBottler to make apps that will run directly on my MBP 2015, but it is always a PITA. Nevertheless, I use it to run the many, many, many, apps I need that have no Mac OS X versions. It actually runs Windows 10 better than it does High Sierra, but of course Windows 10 sucks IMO. I repurposed my older Mac Mini late 2012 model to run Windows 10 in Bootcamp. ![]()
